Griffith Park Free Shakespeare

Independent Shakespeare - Philip Briggs and admirers photo by Ashby de la Plaine

***

Every Summer the Independent Shakespeare Company presents free performances under the moon and the stars in the Park. Their recent relocation from Barnsdall Art Park to Griffith Park has proved to be successful, with the latter a more accommodating venue of a natural amphitheater and boasting excellent acoustics amongst the lovely trees and a few insects (!)

Report by Pauline Adamek

This year they are staging Merry Wives of Windsor, Hamlet and Love”™s Labour”™s Lost.

Arm yourself with some low lawn chairs, bottle of wine, a picnic and snacks that don”™t crunch, a blanket and, if it might be a bit chilly, rug up with a warm jacket and scarf.

Independent Shakespeare - audience
This is a great opportunity for Shakespeare aficionados and anyone open to a live performance with loads of charm and humor and even some lively improv if a helicopter buzzes overhead.

The various productions staged by the Independent Shakespeare Company are made possible by donations, so please be generous and donate each time or become a supporting member of the company.
