Barber of Seville — Center Stage Opera performance review

This weekend ONLY, Center Stage Opera opens their new production of The Barber of Seville, which centers on the scheming hilarity of reality television. It’s Rossini meets ‘Reality TV’ in this lively opera, thanks to its cast of mischievous wealthy people willing to do anything to get love, money and fame.

Featuring music composed by Gioachino Antonio Rossini; Libretto written by Cesare Sterbini, and sung in Italian, the opera is performed with supertitles projected above the stage.

Get ready for an evening of pure hilarity and mischief when Center Stage Opera presents The Barber of Seville with a new reality television production concept that will be sure to amuse.

Rossini’s best known and loved work centers on one of the most favorite of opera characters – none other than our dear, beloved Fiiigaro! This is sure to be an evening of intrigue, mistaken identities, romance and a handful of crafty schemes as the madcap adventures of Figaro and his accomplices are thrust into the most dangerous environment of all – the dicey world of reality television!

Also since there are precious few opera scores that contain so many classic and instantly recognizable melodies, don’t be surprised if you are struck with the urge to sing along (but please don’t!)

Music Director Brian Onderdonk and the acclaimed Center Stage Opera orchestra invite you to take part in the fun and join us for a memorable evening the whole family is sure to enjoy.
