West Coast Composers Forum – performance this Sunday

Eight local composers, eight world premieres!

Innovative woodwind trio Third Wheel is featured in this exciting concert of new music written by members of the West Coast Composers Forum. Be the first to hear the music before the studio recording is released later this fall!

What is the West Coast Composer’s Forum?

Every year a group of composers agree on an ensemble and then we all write and new work specifically for it, then we put on a concert of world premieres.

It’s always very fun and interesting to see the variety of music that is written for the same group during the same period of time. Each composer has their own unique style, and the contrast between the pieces is often really dramatic.

This year the Composers are:

Charles Fernandez

film & television composer

Robert Kyle

studio performer & arranger.

Kathryn Bostic

singer-songwriter, film/theater composer.

Ross Wright

bassist, Orchestre Surréal conductor.

Joe Sorce

saxophonist, educator.

Patricia Amore

pianist, actress.

Clifford Tasner

satirist, orchestrator.

Lou Rovner

small big band leader, arranger.

Third Wheel trio are:

Karin Kantenwein, flute

Adrienne Geffen, clarinet

Rebecca Rivera, bassoon

Third Wheel turns the classical world upside down by transforming the traditional roles of our instruments in new and exciting ways. We are a crossover ensemble that plays Bach with a modern twist, and re-imagines rock ‘n’ roll as Mozart would have written it. As an ensemble, our infectious enthusiasm creates an experience that is simply Feel. Good. Music.
