Sex and the City Zoo 2 – a Valentine”™s event

What could be more wildly romantic?  Sex and the City Zoo 2, a Valentine”™s Day event celebrating animal mating, dating and co-habitating, will be presented by the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) on Sunday, February 13, 2011, 5 to 7 pm, in the Zoo”™s Witherbee Auditorium.

The strictly-for-adults only lighthearted affair begins with a reception featuring tempting desserts and alluring wines followed by a provocative presentation by Zoo veteran Jason Jacobs with insights about the pros and cons of relationships versus staying single in the animal kingdom.

Proceeds from this second annual fund-raiser support the L.A. Zoo”™s mission of wildlife preservation and conservation.

Jacobs, L.A. Zoo”™s director of public relations and marketing, has worked in zoos since he was 13 years old.  “Spending almost every day of my life in a zoo for more than twenty years and coming of age amid a menagerie has given me a unique perspective on the birds and the bees,” he says, promising a presentation that is humorous as well as enlightening.

Sex and the City Zoo 2 is generously sponsored by Herzog Wine Cellars and Whole Foods Market, West Hollywood.

For more than four decades, the private, non-profit Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association has funded exhibits, plant and animal species conservation, capital projects, and education and community outreach programs at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, an international leader in the preservation of endangered species and a conservation center for the care and study of wildlife.

There are currently 72,000 GLAZA member households, the largest membership base of a cultural organization in Los Angeles, and it boasts a volunteer corps of over 700. The Los Angeles Zoo is a major cultural and entertainment resource for Southern California, a place of beauty and inspiration and a catalyst for discovery of the natural world for children of all ages.
