KCRW’s 3rd Annual Pie Contest at LACMA

A day to celebrate baking, creativity and everything pie. LACMA is this year’s host for the 3rd Annual KCRW Good Food Pie Contest, where everyone from home-cooks to professionals will be judged by some of LA’s best chefs and food writers.

This year’s pie contest has over 200 entries, all of which you can taste if you’re a quick draw with your fork.

Cheer on the competitors, or just enjoy a slice. Enjoy family friendly activities including an artful ‘inedible’ pie-making workshop, gallery tours, an apron fashion show, and a live, pie-appropriate soundtrack by KCRW DJ Anne Litt—all for free. Add on a general admission ticket and you can take a special tour in the galleries, too.

As the contest is being staged at LACMA, naturally some learning experiences are part of the mix.

Maite Gomez-Rejon will be hosting ArtBites, a tour through desserts from around the world while looking at art – Mayan chocolate vessels, English sugar bowls and French tapestries.

A Sugar Tour, a Tim Burton-inspired pie category, judging antics and baking camaraderie – what more could you ask for in an LA pie contest?

Plates, forks and knives will be available.

Bring your stretchy pants!
