Following a memorable evening last year that wowed the enthusiastic audience in attendance, legendary hip hop outfit The Roots are set to host another concert this summer to celebrate the legacy of hip hop music. Last year’s inaugural event was off the chain! It’s lucky the Hollywood Bowl is an open air amphitheater, because they woulda blown the roof off the place! June 2024’s one-off concert was sold out as thousands definitely came to party. The vibe was fun, friendly and infectious.

This summer, the theme is “Class of ’95” as a Roots Picnic Experience returns for a second year in LA, with a continuous set from The Roots featuring Lil’ Kim, Method Man & Redman, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, DJ Quik, Raekwon, E-40, Goodie Mob, Havoc of Mobb Deep and more. It’s all happening on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 7PM. Purchase tickets here.

The Roots are an American hip hop band formed in 1987 by Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Presently, The Roots serve as the house band on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, having served in the same role on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon from 2009 to 2014. Current regular members of The Roots on The Tonight Show are Captain Kirk Douglas, Mark Kelley, James Poyser, Ian Hendrickson-Smith, Damon “Tuba Gooding Jr.” Bryson, Stro Elliot, Dave Guy, Kamal Gray, and Raymond Angry. The Roots are known for a jazzy and eclectic approach to hip hop featuring live musical instruments and the group’s work has consistently been met with critical acclaim.

ABOUT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL:

One of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, with a seating capacity of nearly 18,000, the Hollywood Bowl has been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in 1922 and plays host to the finest artists from all genres of music. For over a century, the Bowl has been a Los Angeles County public park, operated in partnership with the LA Phil to welcome visitors from all over the world. It remains one of the best deals anywhere in Los Angeles; to this day, $1 buys a seat at the top of the Bowl for many classical and jazz performances. In February 2024, the Hollywood Bowl was awarded the Outdoor Concert Venue of the Year award at the 35th Annual Pollstar Awards, an honor bestowed 16 previous times. For millions of music lovers across Southern California, the Hollywood Bowl is synonymous with summer. hollywoodbowl.com
